The Alstom Transport SA assigned to us through their forwarders Necotrans Aata, that is one of the biggest forwarders in Europe, to carry-out the unloading from a vessel in Volos, the port clearance and the inland transportation to Kioleides premises of one train of building of rail lines to be reconstructed and delivered to Alstom Greece for the manufacture of the new railway line connecting the Athens with Peloponnesus.
The provisional origin of the train was the Algiers, however our Company had to prove to the Customs that the initial origin was France, in order to avoid the payment of import duties.
For this purpose we gave full directives to our principals and issued the appropriate INF3 certificate that proved the origin of train was E.U. and no import dues were paid.
The heavy weight of each wagon was exceeding 50 tons, but also their length of over 20 meters, obliged us to combine two mobile cranes for unloading from the vessel, of 150 tons lifting capacity each.
The cranes were equipped with two own special spreaders of 4 meters length each and lifted the wagons without harming them at all.
Furthermore, for the inland transportation, due to wagon's big length and extended height of about 4,5 meters, we used four special low-bed trawlers of 20 meters of length in order to achieve passage under the viaducts of the town of Volos.
The whole operation was planned 6 months before and was accomplished successfully in a day without exceeding the budget. It carried out on presence of Shippers and Receivers representatives as well as specialized surveyors who found the handling and all procedure to be done in professional way to their satisfaction.
